Part 2 development!

Hello!

Development for Part 2 will be the entirety of the left route, of which is unlocked after returning to the crossroads upon achieving the main ending. The writing for it is mostly complete. Minor progression encounters may need some rewrites, but the main endings have been written. The next steps are to draw out any parallax maps, write and record (and re-record) more music, draw out lots of sprites, and then slap it into the engine. This will take a while but not 6+ years (right???).

Soundtrack! It's all available HERE on YouTube! Bandcamp might come at a later time, I'll keep you updated.

Thoughts about part 1 (somewhat MAJOR SPOILERS included):

Each doorway led to a different Virtue in which they would pretty much gain their own reasons to antagonize Nell. It was a quick idea that had a plausible explanation (in part 3) so I ran with it since it wasn't that bad. My least favorite thing in part 1 is Temperance's chapter. Everything else I had a great plan for, but fitting his in was rough, and even worse, it was at a point of the game where I knew a lot of folks might quit altogether. It required a LOT of unique fixes and programming for QOL, so I'm going to try and avoid a scenario like that again. In fact, I already have a great chapter planned for him in Part 2.

As for the other chapters within part 1, I'm very happy with how they turned out, and it's my art piece I want to show to the world. The entire story had been rewritten countless times to fit new ideas developed over several years, and it's now something I'm very satisfied with. The only thing I might've changed would be making the entire game's formula a rogue-like. It'll be included somehow later :)

What am I up to now?

I'm writing lyrics for some of my game's songs and mostly relaxing with some video games and art. My bsky will show a lot more of what I'm up to if you're interested. At the moment, I'm not working on Love in the Woods since the majority of the work needed is story-boarding and writing. It would be nice to finish it someday, but the scope is much larger than Afraid of God. Most of my energy is focused on this project since it's my baby.

Discord?

Sure, why not. Here's a link to the server: discord.gg/kVKe484

If you read all of this, thank you! Thank you for letting me ramble a bit on this pretty Saturday morning, and you'll hear back from me once I've got something to show.
